Potatoes are the classic comfort food. In this recipe we’ll make savory garlic baked fries, but you’d be surprised what potatoes can be used for beyond fries and sides. This recipe will use a blender to make the garlic coating. The process is very simple, just add all your ingredients and blend until smooth.

This recipe calls for some type of flour, and we’ve found that some generic gluten-free flour works just great.

These potatoes can be made to be gluten-free and you can use whatever oil you prefer, so these can suit a variety of dietary restrictions. These potatoes also taste fantastic. One of the ingredients that really take these up a notch is nutritional yeast.

What is nutritional yeast?

Nutritional Yeast is a powerhouse when it comes to vegan cooking. It is a deactivated yeast that not only is packed with vitamins and proteins, provides almost a cheesy flavor to foods. This is why it's used in vegan cheeses and savory dishes so often. It can be a great way to add flavor without adding excess salt or fat to a dish.

Crispy Garlic Potatoes

Instructions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425

Step 2

Boil the potatoes until tender (about 20 minutes)

Step 3

Blend all coating ingredients in a blender until smooth

Step 4

Once potatoes are done, transfer to bowl and toss with coating

Step 5

Spread potatoes on lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown (approx 40 minutes)

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/3 cup mined garlic
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp gluten-free flour
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
